Southern Nationals & Iron-Man Tours Visit Lake Cumberland Speedway Friday, May 18th

(May 14, 2018) On Friday May 18th at Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Ky. will host the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuels & Tennessee RV along with the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series presented by DirtonDirt.com. They’ll both co-sanction the “Down-N-Dirty 40” presented by McGowan Excavating.

Lake Cumberland Speedway hosts the first of a Bluegrass State Doubleheader Friday May 18th as both tours will visit Richmond Raceway right up the road on Saturday May 19th paying $10,000-to-win Saturday during the Mike Roland Memorial.

This will mark the first-ever visit by the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series while this will mark the third-ever visit by the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model tour. 2017 winners by the Iron-Man tour at Lake Cumberland Speedway were Skylar Marlar and Jackie Boggs.

On Friday May 18th the Super Late Models will compete for the $4,000 first place prize with $400 going to start the 22-car field during the 40-lap event. In addition, the Open Wheel Modifieds will race for $700-to-win, the KDRA Super Stocks will compete for $600-to-win and the KDRA Four Cylinders will race for $1,000-to-win. The pit gates will open at 3:00 pm, the grandstand gates will open at 5:00 pm, the driver’s meeting will take place at 6:45 pm and hot laps will roll out around 7:00 pm. Adult general admission is $20.00 while adult pit passes are $35.00.

Michael Page of Douglasville, Ga. won the most recent series event at Dixie Speedway on May 12th while David Payne of Murphy, N.C. leads the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series points. Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, Tenn. won the last Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Late Model Series event in February at Volunteer Speedway during the Frostbuster and is the current series points leader.

The tire rule for the weekend at Lake Cumberland Speedway and Richmond Raceway will be Hoosier 1350 and 1600 along with the American Racer 48 and 56. The series entry fee is $100 plus a transponder rental if needed.
