With 28 Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series competitors on hand tonight at Swainsboro Raceway and 129 total cars, series and track officials were looking forward to a great night of racing action at the Swainsboro, Georgia facility. Unfortunately, a round of thunderstorms passed over the track shortly after the completion of Super Late Model hot laps. After a lengthy rain delay with more wet weather on the way, the decision was made to postpone the $7,553 to win program.
Those in attendance tonight should keep their tickets and armbands. The Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series presented by Coltman Farms Racing and fueled by Sunoco and Swainsboro Raceway officials are going to look at a possible reschedule date and will announce a decision by noon on Saturday, July 18.
Before the rain hit, Zack Mitchell motored to the fastest time in MRP Fantasy Racing hot laps with a quick lap of 14.885 seconds.

Next up for the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series will be a visit to Cochran Motor Speedway in Cochran, Georgia on Saturday, July 18. A $7,553 winner’s check will be up for grabs tomorrow at the Peach State venue. Along with the Super Late Models, the 602 Late Models ($1,200 to win), Factory Stocks ($1,000 to win), Street Stocks ($800 to win), Crown Vics ($400 to win), and Crown Vic Jr ($200 to win) will be on the racing card.
The gates will officially open at 4:00pm on Saturday at Cochran, while the drivers meeting is slated for 6:45pm and hot laps will follow shortly thereafter. Admission into the grandstands will be $25.00 for adults, $15.00 for kids ages 6-11, and FREE for children ages 5 and under. Pit admission will be $45.00 for adults, $25.00 for kids ages 6-11, and FREE for children ages 5 and under.
